Tamara Codor was born in 1981 and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She studied classical painting with a private instructor, Andrew Reiss. At seventeen she received her first Elizabeth Greensheilds grant for painting which enabled her to move to the Loire Valley, France, to study with classical painter, Ted Seth Jacobs.
In France, Tamara attended a yearlong intensive master painting class where she fine-tuned her classical drawing and painting skills. Upon returning she attended SUNY New Paltz where she got her degree in Scenic Design and Technical Theater. After graduating she received a second Elizabeth Greensheilds grant and moved to Argentina to paint and travel.
Returning to NY she worked a short stint as a photo editor for the Daily News before realizing that working a desk job was not for her. She quit and began work as a commercial mural artist doing work for private as well as prestigious commercial clients such as the Van Kleef & Arpels jewelry section of Bergdorf Goodman.
Tamara moved to Seattle where she set up her own art classes, teaching private lessons as well as group figure drawing classes. After a year of studio work and very little income, she pursued decorative painting and freelance interior design. So far she has been successful in her mission to help beautify Seattle and bring a little East Coast attitude to the West. Throughout all this she has always kept a working studio and plans to continue arranging her life so that she will always have time to paint.
