Bio

Tamara Codor was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She studied classical painting throughout high school with a private instructor, Andrew Reiss. After graduating early she received the Elizabeth Greensheilds grant for painting which enabled her to move to the Loire Valley, France, to study with Reiss’s former instructor, Ted Jacobs.
In France, Tamara attended a yearlong intensive master painting class where she fine-tuned her classical drawing and painting skills. Upon returning she attended SUNY New Paltz where she got her degree in Scenic Design and Technical Theater. After graduating she received the Elizabeth Greensheilds grant for the second time and moved to Argentina to paint and travel.
Returning to NY she worked as a photo editor for the Daily News until quickly realizing that working a desk job was not for her. She quit and began work as a commercial mural artist doing murals for private clients as well as prestigious clients like the Van Kleef & Arpels jewelry section of Bergdorf Goodman.
Tamara recently moved to Seattle where she has set up her own art classes teaching private lessons as well as group figure drawing classes. She is also working with an internationally known guitar maker, Thomas Humphrey, designing and painting on the backs of his custom guitars. Throughout all this she has always kept a working studio and plans to continue arranging her life so that she will always have time to paint.
